Feeding a Leaky Skin (User Manual), 2024, Detail
Feeding a Leaky Skin (User Manual)
Publication
Limited edition, 12 copies
Realised as a wall sculpture in the frame of Raja TASE’24 in Tallinn, 30.05.-14.06.2024. Self-published as a book in 2025, to be released in the summer.
This text is a written documentation, a collection of notes, a description and a performance score for the care and maintenance of the BLEEDING DRY and SEPARATOR series. Together, these series form a weak system that needs to be cared for and maintained on a daily basis to keep running. The procedure requires specific training and is thus performed by a duo consisting of the artist herself and another trained ‘Care Mechanic‘ (a hybrid term between the professional titles ‘Care Assistant‘ and ‘Car Mechanic‘). The artwork care and maintenance are considered a vital material practice that is characterized by restricted mobility, ultra-slowness and limited adaptability to counter the standard of a mobile, efficient and flexible artist and artwork. The instructions become a sculpture in the exhibition space where it can be browsed by the visitors inviting them to an embodied engagement with the work.
The publication is printed on continuous computer paper on a dot-matrix printer, which is no longer widely used but can still be found in garages and hospitals.
