Artificial Gut Feeling
Video (11:45 min.)
A video work realised and screened in the frame of my residency at ID_Tanzhaus Rhein-Main in Frankfurt am Main, 29.10.2022.
In Artificial Gut Feeling the camera travels from the mouth through the esophagus towards the stomach and into the gut. It is an exploration of inner and outer landscapes, their similarities and differences. The atmosphere ranges from harmony to dissonance and from desire to disgust.
The video is based on footage that was shot during my residency at ID_Tanzhaus Rhein Main as well as excerpts from a gastroscopy. It documents the journey of materializing a persistent and disturbing gut feeling through images, movement, voice and noise sound.
The residency allowed me to work together with the artists Raha Dehghani, Hanna Launikovich and Johannes Schropp who come from the fields of performance, music and visual arts. Together we moved between the rehearsal space, the body‘s interior and the natural environment listening to and recording our gut rumbles, swallowing cables, tracking digestion, infusing air, or letting it all out. Amongst those discharges we found Hanna‘s voice of the subconcious, a speaking gut feeling that accompanies the viewer through the video.
